About Satanta
Satanta, Kansas is a small community in Haskell County in Southwest Kansas. Satanta was named after the famous Kiowa Indian Chief: Chief Satanta. It is an agricultural community located approximately 32 miles North of Liberal, Kansas. The population in 2006 was approximately 1200. Satanta was established in 1912 when the Santa Fe Railroad was extended from Dodge City , Kansas. Before that time, this townsite was all cattle range, known to the few who lived there, as Uncle Jake Davis' pasture.
Our class started school in 1949. Many of our graduating students started at that time. Through the years some left us and others joined us. You can read more about that later in the class History.
